Hanioti, Halkidiki

Haniotis (or Hanioti) is a village in the prefecture of Halkidiki with 968 inhabitants (2001 census). Administratively it belongs to the Municipality of Kassandra of the Region of Central Macedonia (Kallikratis program). From 1999 to 2010, according to the then administrative department of Greece, it was the seat of the homonymous municipal district of the Municipality of Pallini. It is located east of the Kassandra peninsula and has been developed for tourism. There is pine forest in the area, but it was severely damaged by fires in 2006. Its beach is an attraction for thousands of tourists.
